EUGENE, Ore. -- The first two days of action at the USA Track and Field Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore., have seen plenty of highlights, and performances by Cornellians have been particularly strong. The USA meet is also serving as the qualifier for the IAAF World Championships, to be be held in August in Berlin, Germany.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The 2009 Cornell University Women's Athletics Golf Outing, scheduled for August 29, is now available for download at www.CornellBigRed.com. The third annual outing is the largest single event to highlight and fundraise for Cornell’s women’s sports programs. Play a round on Cornell’s Robert Trent Jones Golf Course, designed in 1954. Many of the female athletes whom your participation will benefit will be assisting with the event. Following the tournament, a dinner, prize distribution ceremony and an extensive raffle will be held at the club house. Thousands of dollars worth of high-quality prizes will be available.

Indianapolis, Ind. - Cornell University is one of 18 institutions or conferences selected by the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to receive a women's basketball grant as part of the NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Grant Program, which is in its second year. The 2009-10 NCAA grant program dedicated approximately $750,000 nationally to increase awareness, exposure and increase attendance of women's basketball.

Boston, Mass.- Cornell alumni Max Seibald ’09 has been selected to play in the 2009 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) All-Star game, as was announced by the league this morning. The game will take place at Denver’s INVESCO Field at Mile High Stadium on Thursday, July 16, and will be televised live on ESPN2 at 10 p.m.

6.18.09 | Men's Lacrosse
ITHACA, N.Y. – After taking his team to the heights of the lacrosse world this season, Jeff Tambroni, The Richard M. Moran Head Coach of Men's Lacrosse at Cornell University, has won the Morris Touchstone Award as the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association’s Coach of the Year. Tambroni becomes the third Big Red coach to take home the honor, joining three-time recipient Richie Moran (1971, 1977, 1987) and Dave Pietramala (2000). As a program, Cornell coaches have earned five Morris Touchstone Awards, the most of any program in the nation, surpassing Johns Hopkins and Navy with four apiece.
