SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- The Cornell equestrian team closed its fall semester with a second-place showing at the Skidmore Show, ending in second place in the regional standings with the finish. Cornell scored 34 points to sit behind the host school, which gained 49 points.

Skidmore currently sits in first place in the regional standings, while Cornell is right behind in second.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Sunday's second day of the Morrisville Show didn't start off well, but it ended with a Cornell flurry en route to rallying all the way for a third-place effort. Cornell scored 34 points, including 29 in the afternoon session to outscore every team after registering just five points in the morning. Included was a run of 21 straight points. Morrisville won the show with 43 points, while Skidmore was second with 39.

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. -- The Cornell women's equestrian team moved back into second place in the region with a second-place team effort at the Morrisville Show on Saturday afternoon. The Big Red scored 38 team points to finish one point out of first place, held by Skidmore. It was the Big Red's highest team placement of the year and the most points scored in any of the team's three shows. In addition, four Big Red riders are now qualified for regionals after just three shows.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- A man who built a distinguished career leading tough men, Marine Corps Lt. Gen. John M. (Jay) Paxton Jr. ‘B.S., ‘73, M. Eng ‘74, will join a notable array of mentors at the Cornell Football Association’s fifth annual Career Day at Schoellkopf this spring. Gen. Paxton is Director for Operations, J-3, of the Joint Staff, which assists the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in accomplishing his mission. He was previously Chief of Staff for Multinational Force Iraq in Baghdad and, before that, commanding general of the First Marine Division.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell equestrian team will compete at the two-day Morrisville Horse Show beginning on Saturday, Nov. 14, at the Equine Breeding and Training Center. The Big Red will compete with 14 other schools in an attempt to qualify riders for the zone and regional championships in one of several events: open, intermediate and novice equitation over fences, open, intermediate and novice flat equitation, beginner and advanced walk-trot-canter, walk-trot and alumni events. The competition will begin at 9 a.m. on both mornings.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell equestrian team finished sixth of 15 teams at its own Cornell Fall Show on Saturday at the Oxley Equestrian Center. The Big Red scored 33 team points on the day, with Skidmore winning with 45 total points.
