ITHACA, N.Y. – Cornell field hockey players Catie De Stio and Mel Jue have been named second-team Mideast Region All-Americans, as was announced today by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell field hockey team placed three members on the All-Ivy team, as was announced by the league office this afternoon. Junior Catie De Stio and senior Melanie Jue were named to the first-team, while junior Kate Thompson was a second-team selection.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- A man who built a distinguished career leading tough men, Marine Corps Lt. Gen. John M. (Jay) Paxton Jr. ‘B.S., ‘73, M. Eng ‘74, will join a notable array of mentors at the Cornell Football Association’s fifth annual Career Day at Schoellkopf this spring. Gen. Paxton is Director for Operations, J-3, of the Joint Staff, which assists the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in accomplishing his mission. He was previously Chief of Staff for Multinational Force Iraq in Baghdad and, before that, commanding general of the First Marine Division.

HANOVER, N.H. – The Cornell field hockey team completed its season this afternoon with a 1-0 victory over Dartmouth in Hanover, N.H. With the victory, the Big Red improves to 10-5 overall, 4-3 in the Ivy League and ties Cornell with the Big Green for third in the conference standings. It also gives the Big Red a .500+ record in the Ivy League for the fifth straight season, the most consecutive winning seasons in program history, as well as 10 or more wins in four of Coach Hornibrook’s six years with the team.

ITHACA, N.Y. - The Cornell field hockey team travels to Dartmouth to conclude the 2009 season on Saturday, Nov. 7 at noon. The Big Red will be fighting for a spot in the top-half of the Ivy League standings, as well as a winning conference record, as it takes on the Big Green. Cornell is coming off a disappointing loss to Princeton last Friday evening, while Dartmouth (9-7, 4-2) enters the game riding a three-game winning streak.
