Women’s Rowing Welcomes Eight Newcomers

ITHACA, N.Y. – Hilary Gehman, The Staley Head Coach of Women’s Rowing, has announced the addition of eight newcomers to the Big Red for the 2010-11 season. The group of seven rowers and one coxswain hail from seven different states and bring great talent and experience to the Cornell squad.

Rowing to Hold Informational Meeting for Potential Student-Athletes on Wednesday

ITHACA, N.Y. – Any Cornell University students that are interested in learning how to become a member of the Big Red men’s heavyweight, men’s lightweight or women’s rowing teams are invited to attend an informational meeting at the Friedman Wrestling Center on Wednesday, August 25 at 5:00 p.m. The meeting should last approximately one-hour.

Cornell Begins Construction on Boathouse Renovation and Expansion Project

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell broke ground on its $8 million Boathouse Renovation and Expansion Project this past June and thanks to an unusually dry summer, a great deal of construction has already been done. The newly renovated John Collyer Boat House and Doris Robison Shell House should be completed by May and will be fully operational for the 2011-12 rowing season.

Cornell Sees 10 Named to Spring Academic All-Ivy Team

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Ivy League released its list of student-athletes selected for All-Ivy Academic honors in spring sports this week. The 80 men and women were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with 3.0 or better cumulative grade point averages. Each institution nominated five men and women from its eligible student-athletes. For the all-time Academic All-Ivy list; please click here.

Alumni Help Celebrate as Cornell Breaks Ground on Boathouse Renovation Project

ITHACA, N.Y. – Alumni Weekend is always a special time in Ithaca, as Cornellians of all ages return to the East Hill to reconnect with friends and the University. This year’s Alumni Weekend was extra special for the Big Red Rowing alumni who gathered at the Collyer Boathouse on Saturday, June 12 to celebrate as Cornell broke ground on its $8 million Boathouse Renovation and Expansion Project.

Hilary Gehman Named Mid-Atlantic Regional Coach of the Year

ITHACA, N.Y. – Hilary Gehman, The Staley Head Coach of Women’s Rowing, has been named the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Mid-Atlantic Coach of the Year, as was announced by the CRCA. As a regional winner, Gehman is now eligible to win the National Coach of the Year Award to be voted on in June.

Crump, Pearsall Capture First-Team Academic All-District Honors

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell junior gymnast Maddie Pearsall and senior rower Erica Crumphave been selected as ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District I At-Large First Team honorees, as announced by the organization on Thursday. Both student-athletes now advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
