ITHACA, N.Y. – Tony Bresky, the Director of Intercollegiate Tennis and the Richard Savitt and Stephen Weiss Head Coach of Men's Tennis at Cornell University, got his first look at the Big Red class of 2014, as he welcomed five newcomers to East Hill this week. The team adds five rookies to the squad – Zhongming Chen, (Oakland, Calif.), Silvio Chiba (Irvine, Calif.), Max Haskin (New York, N.Y.), Evan McElwain (Tulsa, Okla.) and Chris Song (Novi, Mich.).

ITHACA, N.Y. – Tony Bresky, The Director of Intercollegiate Tennis and the Richard Savitt and Stephen Weiss Men's Tennis Coach at Cornell University, has announced the addition of two new members to his coaching staff as Houston Barrick and Cory Parr will join the Big Red for the 2010-11 season. Barrick has been hired as an assistant coach, while Parr joins Cornell as a volunteer assistant coach.

SKILLMAN, N.J. – Cornell men’s tennis player Jon Fife has been named as the Northeast Region recipient of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Arthur Ashe Award for Leadership and Sportsmanship.The award goes to a player who has exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and leadership as well as scholastic, extracurricular and tennis achievements.

PRINCETON, N.J. – Cornell junior Andy Gauthier was named first-team All-Ivy in singles, and was a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection with his doubles partner Jeremy Feldman, when the list was announced this morning by the conference office. Also earning All-Ivy accolades was second-team selection Jon Jaklitsch.

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell men’s tennis team wrapped up its season with a 5-2 victory over Penn this afternoon at the Reis Tennis Center in Ithaca, N.Y. The Big Red swept the doubles matches to earn the doubles point and then won the top four spots in singles action to account for the 5-2 final. Cornell’s victory, coupled with Columbia’s win over Princeton this afternoon, gives the Big Red a second-place finish in the Ivy League standings for the second straight year.

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Cornell University men’s tennis team defeated Princeton, 5-2, this afternoon at the Lenz Tennis Center in Princeton, N.J. With the victory, the Big Red improves to 17-7 overall and 4-2 in the Ivy League, staying in the hunt for the conference title. Cornell swept all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point and then received singles victories from Jon Jaklitsch, Andy Gauthier, Evan Bernstein and Mirza Klis.

ITHACA, N.Y. - For the last weekend of the season, the Big Red (16-7, 3-2) will travel to Princeton (8-11, 4-1) on Friday, April 16, before playing host to Penn (11-8, 1-4) on Sunday, April 18. Cornell will take on the Tigers at the Lenz Tennis Center at 2:00 p.m., while the match with the Quakers will take place at the Reis Tennis Center at noon. Cornell enters the weekend with a chance at winning its first conference title since official Ivy League play began in 1956.
