NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Cornell volleyball team closed the 2009 season this afternoon with a 3-0 loss to Yale in New Haven, Conn. The Big Red was swept, 25-14, 25-15, and 25-11.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Alessa Cekauskas had nine kills and Megan Mushovic posted a match-high 19 digs, but it was Brown that took home a 3-0 victory on Friday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center. The Bears earned set wins of 25-18, 25-18, 25-17 to improve to 6-17, while the Big Red fell to 6-18 on the campaign.

ITHACA, N.Y. -- A man who built a distinguished career leading tough men, Marine Corps Lt. Gen. John M. (Jay) Paxton Jr. ‘B.S., ‘73, M. Eng ‘74, will join a notable array of mentors at the Cornell Football Association’s fifth annual Career Day at Schoellkopf this spring. Gen. Paxton is Director for Operations, J-3, of the Joint Staff, which assists the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff in accomplishing his mission. He was previously Chief of Staff for Multinational Force Iraq in Baghdad and, before that, commanding general of the First Marine Division.

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Cornell volleyball team nearly handed Penn its first Ivy League loss of the season this afternoon at Newman Arena, but came up just short, falling to the Quakers, 3-2. The Big Red won the first two sets, 25-22 and 25-21, before dropping the next three, 25-23, 25-21 and 15-12.

The Big Red is back in action tomorrow, as it takes on Penn on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 4 p.m. Before the game, Cornell will celebrate Senior Day, honoring Jessica Misse, Megan Mushovic and Juliana Rogers.
