Wrestling Ranked No. 1 By Wrestling Report

ITHACA, N.Y. -- The Cornell wrestling team ranks No. 1 in the 2011 preseason NCAA tournament scoring poll by wrestlingreport.com and has seven wrestlers ranked in their respective weight classes, including three in the top two. The Big Red finished third in the preseason DPI (Dual Percentage Index) by the same group, ranking only behind Oklahoma State and Boise State in dual meet strength with the returning lineup.

Wrestling Announces 2010-11 Schedule

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell will welcome four teams to Ithaca that finished in the top 25 at last season's NCAA tournament, including a big dual meet against Iowa State, during its recently announced 2010-11 season. Coming off a second-place NCAA finish a year ago, Rob Koll's Big Red team opens its season at home against Central Michigan on Friday, Nov. 19 at Newman Arena.

Cornell Great Auble Inducted Into National Wrestling Hall of Fame

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell wrestling great Dave Auble was inducted as a member of the 2010 class of inductees into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum last weekend as part of the 34th anniversary class in Stillwater, Okla. He joined fellow inductees Russell Camilleri, Rulon Gardner and Lincoln McIlravy.

Lewnes Takes Second at University World Team Trials

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--Cornell wrestling’s Mack Lewnes finished second at University World Team Trials last weekend. Lewnes won the mini-tournament but lost to University Nationals’ champion Quinton Wright of Penn State in a best of three series. Joe Stanzione also wrestled in the tournament, but lost to two NCAA All-Americans.

Intihar, Nickerson, Wittman Take Home Outstanding Senior Athlete Awards At Senior Banquet

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell seniors Alyson Intihar (Zelienople, Pa.), Troy Nickerson (Chenango Forks, N.Y.) and Ryan Wittman (Eden Prairie, Minn.) were recipients of the Charles H. Moore Outstanding Senior Varsity Athlete Award on Monday evening at the school's annual senior athletics banquet. Kerry Quinn (Havertown, Pa.) and Liz Zorn (Churchville, N.Y.) both earned the Ronald P. Lynch Senior Spirit Award, given to student-athletes whose leadership on and off the field models the ideals of the Big Red athletics department. Colin Greening (St. John’s, Newfoundland) was recognized with the Mario St. George Boiardi '04 Leadership Award for most embodying leadership, athleticism and a strong work ethic.

Dake Named Amateur Wrestling News Rookie of the Year

ITHACA, N.Y.—Cornell wrestling freshman has been named the 2010 Amateur Wrestling News Rookie of the Year after capturing the NCAA title at this year’s championships. Fellow freshman Steve Bosak also made the All-Rookie team.
