ITHACA, N.Y. -- Senior Kala Neilson and sophomore Sidra Bonner were named honorable mention All-Ivy League in the annual post-season awards, announced on Thursday by the Ivy League office. Voting was conducted by the league's eight coaches.

Neilson wins her first league mention after starting all 11 games in which she appeared in this season. She was a key figure in the midfield for Cornell, using her height to win numerous balls in the air, while providing a calming presence in the center of the field. Nielson missed four games on the year, three of those coming during the middle of the season when she was sidelined by an injury.

Bonner, meanwhile, receives honorable mention for the second straight season after providing a steady influence on the back line for Cornell. She anchored a defense that allowed 10 fewer goals in 2009 than in 2008 and led the team in scoring with three goals, all on headers off of corner kicks.

Cornell returns all but four players from this year's team, while again fielding a young roster that will feature just two seniors in 2010.
