ITHACA, N.Y. -- After its best Ancient Eight dual meet season since 1997-98, the Cornell women's swimming and diving team will look for consistent improvement and a school-record point total when it heads to the 2010 Ivy League Swimming and Diving Championship starting on Thursday at Blodgett Pool in Cambridge, Mass.

"We feel like the women's team has a legitimate chance to break a lot of Cornell records," said head coach Joe Lucia. "We set an ambitious goal of breaking every school record in the relays and that's very important to the team. Next, we want to break the team record in scoring (551 points in 2005) and we feel if we break that that we've taken steps to head in the right direction."

Coming off a 3-6 dual meet season that included a 3-1 home record and wins over Ivy foes Dartmouth and Brown, the Big Red women are looking to improve on last year's eighth-place finish and 494.5 team points.

"I know they want to swim fast and compete hard, and I think the dual meet season was good for us," Lucia Said. "we learned a lot and made a step in the right direction."
