Women's Cross Country Takes First Place at Yellowjacket Invitational

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Big Red placed five runners in the top 11, edging Western Ontario and beating 11 other schools for a win at the Yellowjacket Invitational on Saturday.

Cornell's five runners combined for 31 points, just beating out Western Ontario's 35 for first place.

Freshman Jade Williams took second place overall in 18:40, just one second short of first. She was followed closely by teammate Rachel Sorna, whose time of 18:45 put her in third place.

Junior Cara Cosich and senior Meghan Brown took seventh and eighth place, respectively, at 19:00 and 19:01, and freshmen Katie Johnson was Cornell's last scorer. She finished the course in 19:07 for 11th place.

Cornell also has athletes competing in Sunday's Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind. The entire team is back together on Friday for the Rief Memorial Run on the Moakley Course.
