Freshman Season - 2008
Brodsky earned All-Ivy League honorable mention as a designated hitter after batting .336 ont he year with 21 runs driven in – second on the team in both categories. He opened his career with a hit in four straight games and had at least one hit in 15 of his first 18 games. He went 2-for-5 with a run and an RBI against Pitt on March 16, then followed that up with a 2-for-4 performance with a pair of runs scored four days later against Long Island. The following day against NJIT, he went 1-for-6 but scored three times and drove in another run. As the Ivy League campaign opened, he went 2-for-3 with two RBI against Penn on April 12, then went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBI in game two the following day. In the series at Columbia, he went 6-for-17 with a run scored and three driven in, while opening the series against Princeton with a 4-for-4 performance including a run scored and two driven in. Brodsky drew a team-best 26 walks and was hit seven times, also a team-high, while striking out only 21 times. He also saw time on the mound, posting a 6.63 earned-run average in nine appearances. The highlight of his pitching performances was a six-inning outing in his second start of the year against Siena, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five in being the hard-luck loser in a 2-1 loss.
Before Cornell
Brodsky was named an All-Southern California selection as a senior by the Los Angeles Daily News and the Los Angeles Times, capping a season that saw him post a 10-2 record with a 2.00 earned run average. He also led his team with a .478 batting average with seven home runs and 41 runs batted in. Brodsky was also a three-time all-Los Angeles city selection and three-time all-West Valley League honoree by the Daily News and the Times. The valedictorian of his high school class, he led his team to the 2006 city championship game and pitched at Dodger Stadium. Over the course of his high school career, he earned 27 victories at Cleveland High School.

Mickey Dylan Brodsky is the son of Robert and Nan Brodsky, and he has a younger brother. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences. |
