* Honorable Mention All-Ivy League (2008)
Career Stats
At Cornell
Blessed with a combination of strength and speed, Bernhard has developed into a dominant run and pass blocker. One of the toughest and quickest linemen in the Ivy League, he is a preseason candidate for all-conference honors at left tackle. Bernhard has opened 20 consecutive games and will be looked toward as the anchor of the offensive line in 2009. An honorable mention All-Ivy selection in 2008, he was part of a line that ranked fourth in the Ivy League in fewest sacks against (19). The Big Red did not allow a sack in the first three contests as a junior. Bernhard opened all 10 games as a sophomore at right tackle. An outstanding athlete, he was part of a line that blocked for 21 rushing scores and allowed only 22 sacks during the season. He spent his entire freshman season on the team’s two-deep at right guard. Bernhard saw action on special teams in the final eight games of 2006 as a freshman. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
At Encinal
A three-time first-team all-league pick on the offensive and defensive line at Encinal HS, Bernhard led his team to its first league playoff berth in 15 years in 2005. The two-year captain earned all-area honors at offensive guard and defensive tackle as a senior. The three-year starter was named to the Contra Costa Times’ "Cream of the Crop" team as one of the top 20 players in the area. He also competed for two seasons on the track team, throwing the discus and shot put.
