Freshman Season - 2010
Souza appeared in 17 games as a freshman, starting twice in the outfield. He came on as a pinch-runner in each of his first five appearances, scoring a run in the season opener against Binghamton on March 16. He earned his first at-bats on March 23 at Florida Atlantic, going 0-for-2, and picked up his first career hit with a single on April 3 against Dartmouth. Souza earned his first career start on April 20 against Siena, going 1-for-3 with a stolen base, one of three on the season. Souza finished the season scoring six runs and driving in one on April 28, when he went 0-for-3 with a run scored and a pair of walks in his second career start.
Before Cornell
Souza was a two-time first-team all-league selection at wide receiver and quarterback at Hart HS. He was named the team's most valuable offensive player and the offensive captain as a senior after passing for 1,665 yards and 10 touchdowns and also rushing for 684 yards and six scores. He had two 100-yard rushing games with a high of 127 yards, and had three 200-yard passing contests, including a 262-yard, two-touchdown effort. As a junior in 2007, Hart hauled in 28 passes for 436 yards and two touchdowns as a receiver in helping the team to a 12-1-1 record. Souza also lettered twice in baseball, hitting .385 with nine doubles, nine home runs and 23 RBI as a senior second baseman en route to first-team all-league and second-team All-CIF honors. He batted .385 with 14 home runs (fourth all-time at Hart) and 40 RBI in his prep career.
