Scrivens was named a first team All-American following a 2009-10 season in which he backstopped the men's hockey team to an ECAC Hockey championship. He led the country with a .934 save percentage and his 1.84 goals-against average was mere thousandths of a point behind the national leader. As of the conclusion of his career, he ranked fourth in the program's career list with a 1.93 goals-against average. He was a unanimous selection as the All-Ivy League First Team goaltender in 2010 after earning honorable mention the previous two seasons. He was also presented the Ken Dryden Award in 2010, which is presented to the top goalie in ECAC Hockey. In addition to being an All-ECAC Hockey First Team selection in 2010, he earned a spot on the Second Team in 2009. Undrafted when he arrived at Cornell, Scrivens signed a professional contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs after his collegiate career. He quickly worked his way to the NHL, appearing with Toronto, Los Angeles and Edmonton over his first five years as a professional.
