He was a four-year letter winner as a midfielder on the men's lacrosse team from 1984-87. Cummings was a key member of the 1987 team that compiled a 13-1 overall record, won the Ivy League title and was runner-up to Johns Hopkins for the NCAA championship. He was named to the NCAA all-tournament team after accounting for five goals and an assist in the three contests, including two goals and an assist in the title game. He went on to earn All-America and All-Ivy first-team honors. Over his four-year varsity career, he recorded 44 points on 35 goals and nine assists. One of the founders of the professional indoor lacrosse league in the early '90s, he played for five years with the New York Saints and also served as team captain. Cummings, a native of Wantagh, N.Y., graduated from Holy Trinity High School, where he won all-league and All-America honors in lacrosse his final year, helping the team to the Long Island Catholic League championship. He makes his home in Thornwood, N.Y.
