Snavely was named to the National Football Hall of Fame in 1965. His nine-year record at Cornell was 46-26-3. He coached the 1939 team to an undefeated season (8-0), which included a 23-14 win over Ohio State. The 1940 team also upset Ohio State, 21-7.
