Won Eastern Intercollegiate 155-lb. wrestling championship his sophomore year. Âaptained team as a senior and won letters in 1943 and 1946. Was an outfielder and two-year letterman in baseball and led the Eastern Intercollegiate League in batting with an average of .460 in '43. Served in WWII in 1944 and 1945; returned to the University to complete his final two years, earning degree in 1947.
