An outstanding two-sport athlete, he was a tackle on the excellent football teams of 1929, 1930 and ’31. He helped Cornell compile a three-year overall record of 19-5, with the ’31 team going 7-1. As captain in 1931, he received Associated Press All-America honorable mention honors that year. A saber and epee specialist in fencing, he captained the swordsmen in 1931. He and his brother Jose ’32 were selected to fence for Mexico at the 1932 Olympic Games. He participated in track as a freshman. He was residing in his native Mexico at the time of his death in 1982.
