An outstanding defensive player, she played in three National Women's Polo Intercollegiate championships. Her 13 goals in the two-game national tourney in 1979 was instrumental in Cornell's winning the championship after the Big Red posted runner-up finishes n 1977 and 1978. She led the team in scoring her junior year with 46 goals, and was second in 1979, also with 46 tallies. Her nine goals vs. Skidmore in 1977 set the Cornell record for most goals in one game. Preston is a graduate of Lansing High School.
