He was a four-time Heptagonal triple jump champion, winning three outdoor titles and one indoor championship in that event. At the outdoor Heps as a freshman, he was third in the triple jump and sixth in the long jump, in addition to running the third leg of the second-place 400-meter relay. At the 1987 outdoor Heps, he scored in four events totaling 30 of the team's 64 points, winning the triple jump, placing second in the long jump, fourth in the 100-meter dash, and he ran a leg on the second-place 4x100-meter relay. H was eighth in the finals of the triple jump at the outdoor IC4As in 1985, and placed fifth in the college division of the triple jump at the Penn Relays in 1987. Co-captain of the team as a senior, he set the existing Cornell outdoor triple jump record (51-8 ½ in 1985), and was the recipient of the Gatling Award, given to the senior who has done the most for Cornell track, the Charles Blanford Award, for most points scored in a career, and the Theodota Ladas Award as the team's best jumper. He received his J.D. degree from the Cornell Law School in 1991.
