He won the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association heavyweight championship in 1958, which enabled Cornell to win its first EIWA title in 28 years. In addition, he was instrumental in the Big Red winning three straight Ivy League championships. Over his three-year career, he compiled a dual meet record of 24-3-4. He served as co-captain in 1958-59. He was a tackle in football for three years, earning varsity letters in 1957 and 1958. He was the Cornell Sun Athlete of the Year in 1959.
