He was an outstanding forward on the men's ice hockey team from 1967-69. During that time, Cornell compiled a three-year overall record of 81-5-1, won three straight ECAC and Ivy League titles and made three straight appearances in the NCAA championship tournament, with the 1967 team going 27-1-1 and capturing the NCAA title, while the 1969 team was second. The runner-up in team scoring all three of his varsity seasons, he graduated ranked second on Cornell's all-time scoring list with 161 points, second in career goals (68) and third in career assists (92). He was an All-ECAC first-team selection in 1967-68 and a second-team pick in 1968-69. The two-time All-Ivy first-team selection was named to the All-America first team in 1968-69, in addition to being named to the NCAA all-tournament second team. He was an assistant captain of the team as a junior.
