He was a three-time All-Eastern Intercollegiate Tennis Association first-team singles selection (1983, 1984 and 1985) and was a first-team All-EITA doubles pick as a freshman in 1982. Over his four-year career, he compiled an overall dual match record of 56-18 in singles play, going 16-3 at No. 2 singles in 1982, and at No. 1 singles, he went 13-5 in 1983, 15-3 in '84, and 12-7 in 1985. His consistency helped the Big Red put together winning seasons in three of his four years with the varsity. In 1984, he earned a berth to compete in the NCAA singles championships, where, despite some outstanding play, he bowed in the first round to the No. 21st-ranked player in the nation. He was captain of the team as a junior and senior. He is a graduate of Upper Dublin High School in Fort Washington, Pa., where he was a two-time state champion. He resides in Pittsburgh, Pa.
