She was a three-time All-Ivy first-team performer, winning league titles at the Ivy championships in floor exercise (1985), vault (1986) and uneven bars (1988). She was also a second-team All-Ivy selection on the basis of her second-place finish in the vault in 1987. She won All-New York State honors in winning the floor ex, beam and all-around events at the state championships in 1986. Pitts won All-ECAC honors in 1987, when she tied for fourth in the all-around to qualify for the NCAA Eastern Regionals. At the end of her four-year career, she had set team records in vault (9.60), uneven bars (9.50), floor ex (9.35) and all-around (37.10.) She co-captained the team as a sophomore, junior and senior and was a three-time recipient of the team's Jill Ryer Leadership Award. The former Bel Air, Md., native is a graduate of Bel Air High School and she captured the USGF Class II Maryland state title.
