A three-time co-captain in field hockey, she led the team in scoring for four consecutive seasons from 1976-79. Over her career, she tallied 28 goals and 11 assists. Powell set Cornell game records for points (nine vs. Wells in 1977) and goals scored (four vs. Rochester in 1976 and vs. Wells in 1977); and career records for points (67) and goals scored (28). She was a three-year letter winner as a member of the women's lacrosse team, and she was selected to play on the Central District III team at the National Lacrosse Tournament in 1979. A graduate of the Greenhill School in Dallas, Texas, she makes her home in New Canaan, Conn.
