He has served as a member of the Advisory Council on Physical Education and Athletics, and the Advisory Council for the College of Veterinary Medicine. In addition, as a member of the Secondary Schools Committee in the Rochester area, he has worked hard to attract good students to Cornell. Beside encouraging students to consider to attend Cornell, he takes a personal interest in their decision to attend, their progress while in school and their future. Elected a trustee in 1969, he became a trustee emeritus in 1980, and was named a presidential councilor in 1984. In 1981, he was the recipient of the Distinguished Alumni Service Award by the SUNY Alumni Confederation in recognition of his many years of service to the New York State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. King was a consultant and former administrator of the Genesee Valley Regional Market Authority.
