    He was a member of his class track team during his first two years, and was a member of the varsity his final two seasons. Captain of the squad his senior year, he placed third in the hammer throw at the Intercollegiates in 1907, and went on to win the IC4A championship in that event in 1908, helping Cornell win its third Intercollegiate track team championship in four years. A donor to athletics and the University's College of Engineering, he was a member of the University Council in the 1950s. He was a chairman of the board of the Sun Oil Company, and the Sun Shipbuilding and Drydock Company at the time of his death in 1963.
