    She was named to the All-America first team in 1972 and was a second-team selection in 1973, as Cornell won the National Intercollegiate Women's Fencing Association Championship both years and was runner-up for the NIWFA title in 1974. Cornell was undefeated in dual matches during her last three years of varsity competition, going 10-0 in 1973, 6-0 in 1974, and 7-0 in 1975. She was a two-time recipient of the Olympians Committee Award, given at the national tournament for sportsmanship, ability, and deportment.
