He led the basketball team in scoring all three of his varsity seasons, and currently ranks fourth on the all-time list with 1,217 points. He was a first team All-Ivy selection as a junior when he placed fourth in the league in scoring. He won the Ivy scoring crown his senior year with 289 points, and was named All-Ivy second team. Through his career, he had 26 games in which he scored 20 or more points per contest. He set Cornell game records for free throws made and attempted, and tied for second in game pints (37 vs. Pennsylvania in 1957), and established season and career records for free throws made. Captain of the team his senior year, he turned down an offer to play professional basketball with the Detroit Pistons of the NBA to enter Cornell’s Medical College. He was a graduate of Mont Pleasant High School in Schenectady, N.Y.
