A two-time All-Ivy first team selection as a middle guard in 1973 and as a linebacker in 1972, he was named to the ECAC All-Star squad in 1972 and 1973. In addition, he was selected to the AP All-East team in 1973, and the AP All-America second team in 1972. As a senior he was named to the AP All-America third team. One of the top Cornell and Ivy League defensive players since World War II, he won three letters. He played a marked role in Cornell's tying for its first Ivy League championship in 1971 and finishing with an 8-1 record, the best Big Red mark since 1949. The Cooperstown (N.Y.) native signed a contract with the Cincinnati Bengals of the NFL following graduation.
