An excellent outfielder, he led both the team and the Eastern Intercollegiate Baseball league in batting, hits and runs in 1967, earning All-League first-team honors. In addition, he topped the Big Red in stolen bases and led the league in RBI. He was named to the District II NCAA All-Star first team and was a third-team Collegiate All-America selection, as chosen by the American Association of College Baseball Coaches. He was the team MVP in 1967, when the Big Red compiled an overall 20-8 record. The three-year letterman had a .301 career battling average. Riff graduated from Lawrence, N.Y., High School.
