He was a powerful fullback on the excellent teams of 1939 and 1940. He received Associated Press All-America honorable mention honors in 1939, when he helped lead the Big Red to an overall record of 8-0, a No. 4 national ranking, and the No. 1 ranking in the East to earn the Lambert Trophy. He was accorded AP All-America and All-Eastern honorable mention in 1940, when he led the team in scoring with 42 points on seven TDs. He was selected to play for the North in the Blue/Gray All-Star Game in Montgomery, Ala., in December 1940. He was also selected to play with the Eastern College All-Stars vs. the New York Giants at the Polo Grounds in September 1941. He was chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 20th round of the NFL draft. He played halfback and defensive back with the Philadelphia Eagles in 1941, and after serving as a Marine pilot during World War II, he played for the Los Angeles Dons of the All-America Conference in 1947. Landsberg was residing in New York City at the time of his death in 1970. (Deceased)
