As a senior, he won the hammer throw at the outdoor IC4A track championships with a distance of 167-7 1/2, and won the weight throw at the indoor IC4As for the second straight year with a throw of 53-11 1/8, which set the IC4A indoor record, as Cornell won the team title. He set the intercollegiate weight throw record of 55-0 7/8 vs. Yale in 1928, which broke his own mark set at the IC4As. He won the Penn Relays hammer throw (152-11) in 1928 and competed in the tryouts for the 1928 Olympic Games. He was a member of the all-American track and field team for 1931 as selected by the Amateur Athletic Union. Wright was active in the Boy Scouts of America for 31 years and had been employed at the national headquarters in North Brunswick, N.J., until 1970.
