A three-year letterman in football, he was a left guard on the 9-0 national champion 1915 team and also on the 1916 squad. After spending two years in the armed services during World War I, he returned to play right guard on the 1919 team. He earned his letter in track in 1920, and also wrestled. Miller, a member of the University Council from 1950-70, retired as a director of the National Dairy Products Corp and as president of its Service Division in 1960.
