An outstanding, all-around athlete, he is one of a very few Cornellians to be a three-year letterman in three sports. He started every soccer game during his career, even though he never played the sport before entering Cornell. He was mentioned for All-America honors in soccer and lacrosse his junior year. His solid booting at center half helped the soccer team to a runner-up finish in the Middle Atlantic Soccer League in 1939. Wiggins was a graduate of Manlius Prep School and a former native of Ithaca, N.Y.
