He served as captain of the golf team in 1932 and 1933.  During the 1933 season, the Big Red compiled a 4-2 dual-match record, with wins over Army, Penn State twice and Colgate, while Bliss contributed to the effort in winning three matches outright and tying for first in the other three matches.  He tied the Penn State course record with a winning round of 66.  He reached the finals of both the national intercollegiates and the Western Amateur championships in the summer of 1933.
