He was a starter on the lacrosse team from 1908-10. He played his greatest game at center for Cornell in 1910 when he scored six of the team's 11 goals in a rout of Columbia. He was a member of the basketball team as a freshman. After graduation he played with the Crescent Athletic Club and captained the team in 1920-21 when Crescent won the unofficial national club championship. He was a chief lacrosse referee for 30 years and was one of the original members elected to the Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1957. He helped in the development of the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association; served various terms as secretary, vice president and president of the USILA; aided in the introduction of the sport at West Point; and served on the U.S. Olympic Committee.
