Reeves, Wroblewski Named To Academic All-District Team

ITHACA, N.Y. -- Cornell guards Geoff Reeves and Chris Wroblewski highlighted the 2009-10 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selections that were announced on Thursday afternoon for their dynamic performances on the court and in the classroom. The two were voted to the first team in District I and will be on the ballot with a chance to earn Academic All-America honors. The duo were among four Ivy League players chosen to the team, along with Columbia senior guard Patrick Foley and Brown senior forward Matt Mullery.

Reeves has been a key reserve and part-time starter at guard and is one of the squad's top players on both ends of the court. An outstanding defender, he is also averaging 6.5 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 19.1 minutes per game. His 51 percent shooting from the floor, 44 percent from 3-point range and 85 percent from the free-throw line all rank among the team leaders, as does his 16 steals. Reeves has played in all 21 games with four starts this season after starting 28 of the 29 games he played in a season ago. Reeves has hit for double figures in five games off the bench this season, including scoring 16 points off the bench against Massachusetts. His .434 career percentage from beyond the 3-point arc ranks second to Wroblewski. Off the court, Reeves has posted a 3.54 grade point average in agricultural sciences.

Wroblewski, the 2008-09 Ivy League Rookie of the Year, is currently the school's career 3-point field goal percentage leader (.439) and led the Ancient Eight a season ago by knocking down 52 percent in league games a seaosn ago. He has opened all 21 games this year, averaging 9.0 points, 3.8 assists, 2.7 rebounds and 1.0 steals per game. A 91 percent free-throw shooter in 2009-10, he averaged 17.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in three contests against Big East team this season and has been in double figures 10 times. In the classroom, the sophomore has posted a 3.58 grade point average in applied economics and management.

Cornell is off to an 18-3 start (4-0 Ivy) and is currently ranked No. 25 in the latest ESPN/USA Today Top 25 Coaches poll, the program's first national ranking in 59 years. The Big Red return to action on Friday, Feb. 5, when it meets Yale at 7 p.m. at Newman Arena.
