ITHACA, N.Y. – For the second time in five short months, the Cornell men's lacrosse program finds itself mourning the loss of a former Big Red goalie, as Kyle Miller '06 succumbed after a long battle with cancer at Mount Sinai Hospital early Saturday morning. First diagnosed during his junior year at Cornell, Miller recovered and was in remission for eight years before being diagnosed with Stage 4 osteogenic spindle cell sarcoma, and a tumor in his lung.

A four-year letter winner for the Big Red, Miller was a member of the 2006 Team Canada squad that won the ILF title. The former Cornell goalie was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer in February 2003 and missed two full lacrosse seasons while receiving medical treatment. He returned to Cornell for the 2004-05 academic year, and despite his doctor's prognosis that he would not play collegiate lacrosse again, Miller made a triumphant return to the Big Red and in his final two seasons of eligibility, he saw action in eight games. During his career with Cornell, he posted an 8.51 GAA and stopped .650 percent of the shots he faced.

Miller was an inspiration to many with his #BeatIt campaign, selling hats and shirts to raise money for more research on Osteosarcoma cancer. To see the Beat It store, visit: http://www.kylemiller35.com/BEAT-IT-Shop.html
