JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Cornell women's track and field's Brooke Overholt left nothing up for debate at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Thursday night, winning her heat of the 400-meter hurdles in personal-record time to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.
Overholt finished the race in an impressive 57.61, a time which surpassed her previous personal-best (58.90) by over a second. Not only was her mark the fifth-fastest qualifying time to advance to the quarterfinals, but it improves her to second all-time in Cornell track & field history.
Overholt will look to punch her ticket to the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships when she competes in the 400-meter quarterfinals on Saturday, May 29 at 7:55 p.m. In order to advance, she'll be looking to secure a top-12 finish in the event.
