Women's Basketball Hosts Princeton in 2024 Ivy Opener

STREAKS, STORYLINES & SIDEBARS 

• Cornell women's basketball returns opens 2024 and its Ivy League portion of its schedule when it hosts Princeton from Newman Arena.
• The Big Red will take on the Tigers on Saturday, Jan. 6 at 2:00 p.m.
• Cornell was selected seventh in the Ivy League preseason media poll. Cornell finished 10-17 in the 2022-23 season, ending at seventh in the Ancient Eight. The Big Red tallied a road win over Brown and a sweep over Dartmouth in conference play.
• Sophomore Emily Pape has found her rhythm again, scoring double figures in five consecutive games, including matching her career high (27) against Syracuse on Dec. 18. It is the second-longest streak of double-digit performances for Pape, as the Park Ridge, Ill. native had two separate stretches of six or more during her freshman campaign. Pape also has shot an impressive 52.7% from the field, secured 44 rebounds, and has swiped nine steals over that same stretch.
• Senior captain Kaya Ingram and freshman Rachel Kaus follow, tallying 121 and 107 points respectively this season. Ingram is also tied for the team lead with Pape in steals (14) and is second in assists (35).

- Cornell also has not won in Newman Arena over the Tigers since March 8, 2008, when it put together a 76-59 victory to move into an Ivy League playoff against Dartmouth. Cornell would eventually defeat the Big Green and capture its lone Ivy League conference championship to date.

• Freshman Azareya Kilgoe scored a career-high 22 points on nine-of-13 shooting.
• She was not the only Big Red athlete in double-figures, as Emily Pape netted 16 points and eight rebounds on seven-of-14 shooting from the field in the loss for the Big Red, which extends Cornell's losing streak to the Seawolves to three-consecutive battles.
• Five Seawolves scored double figures in the win for Stony Brook, including 21 points from Khari Clark and 15 points apiece for Gigi Gonzalez and Zaida Gonzalez.
