  • Cornell women's basketball will hit the road for the final time this weekend as it heads to Yale before heading to Rhode Island to battle Brown.
  • The Big Red will face off against the Bulldogs on Friday, March 1 at 4 p.m. before turning around to battle the Bears on Saturday, March 2 at 3:30 p.m.
  • Cornell was selected seventh in the Ivy League preseason media poll. Cornell finished 10-17 in the 2022-23 season, ending at seventh in the Ancient Eight. The Big Red tallied a road win over Brown and a sweep over Dartmouth in conference play.
  • Freshman Azareya Kilgoe has been the hot hand as of late for Cornell, scoring double figures in four of the last six games. The Delaware product scored a team-high 17 against Yale in Newman Arena on Feb. 10. 
  • Classmate counterpart Rachel Kaus has pushed the envelope over the last two games against Dartmouth and Penn, scoring a combined 33 points, shooting .484 from the field (16-33), grabbing 10 rebounds, and dishing out six assists.

GAME STORY I BOX SCORE I GALLERY

  • A 12-4 run over the final 2:53 gave the Penn Quakers the momentum it needed to steal a 61-54 victory over the Big Red on Saturday from Newman Arena.
  • Freshman Rachel Kaus paced the Cornell offense with 15 points on 7-13 shooting from the field, marking her seventh game reaching double figures this season. Azareya Kilgoe rounded out the duo of double-figure scores with 11 points for her eighth time surpassing the double-digit mark this season.
  • Cornell flipped the script after being down by six at halftime, shooting a game-high  7-of-15 from the field (.466) in the third to inch ahead by four. Penn though would turn it on over the final ten minutes with a 61.5% clip and an 8-of-10 showing from the charity stripe to hand Cornell its fifth straight loss.
  • Penn's Jordan Obi (18), Stina Almqvist (15), and Mataya Gayle (12) each hit double figures in the contest. Obi accounted for a double-double with a game-high 12 rebounds, while Almqvist poured on the defense with four blocks.
