Biography

Considered one of Cornell[apos]s most outstanding all-around weightman, he won four Heptagonal championships during his three-year varsity career. He placed first in both the shot put and hammer throw at the outdoor Heps in 1965, following his first-place Heps finishes in the weight throw indoors in 1965 and in he hammer throw outdoors in 1964. He earned All-America honors is junior year by placing fourth in the hammer throw at the outdoor NCAA championships. At the outdoor IC4A championships in 1965, he won the hammer throw event and placed fourth in the shot put. Captain of the track team his senior year, he won the Penn Relays shot put with the best throw ever by an Ivy Leaguer. He was a gold medal winner in the hammer throw at the Pan American Games in 1967, and participated in the 1972 Olympic Games, where he placed 12th in that event. He is a former Fairfax Station, Va.
