At Cornell: A co-captain for the women’s track team in 2008-09, Wheat proved to be one of the top middle distance runners in the East during an outstanding junior campaign. An ECAC qualifier in the 800m and 1000m, she earned All-East honors in the latter event by placing sixth at the indoor ECACs. Wheat scored in the 800m at both the indoor and outdoor Heps, coming through with personal best performances at both big meets.

At Monroe-Woodbury HS: Wheat was a top middle distance runner and steeplechaser, competing at the state and national meets in a variety of events.

Personal: Amanda Wheat is the daughter of Michael and Lorraine Wheat and has a younger brother.
