ITHACA, N.Y. - Sophomore Erica Woda knocked a loose ball past freshman goalkeeper Katie Thomas (Northridge, Calif.) to score the lone goal in a 1-0 victory for the Columbia women's soccer team over Cornell this evening at Berman Field. The loss ends Cornell's season at 4-8-3, while Columbia remains alive in its hopes for an NCAA tournament bid with a 10-6-1 record.

After a scoreless first half, Gwyneth Lederman started Columbia's scoring play by feeding a ball into the box. Teammate Tara Davis touched the ball to Woda, who sent it into the right corner of the goal.

Cornell had a couple of good opportunities later in the game, but Columbia goalkeeper Janine Ierardi made a pair of saves to preserve the shutout. Katie Thomas made three saves for the Big Red.

Today was the final game for Big Red seniors Ellen Daly, Julie DeMichele, Kim Feeney, Andrea Madison and Erica Olson.
