Ithaca, N.Y. - The Cornell women's squash team won its season opener Saturday with a 7-2 victory over Pennsylvania.
The Red, led by senior Olga Puigdemont Sola (Blanes Girona, Spain), started with victories in the Nos. 1-4 spots. Sola played a strong match in the No. 1 position, allowing freshman Linda McNair only 3 points, 9-0, 9-3, 9-0.
The team closed out the match with wins by junior Rachel Perschetz (Baltimore, MD) and freshman Claire Zipf (Gladwynne, PA), who both won 3-0 in the Nos. 8 and 9 spots, respectively. Zipf allowed Meade Morrison only 1 point, 9-0, 9-1, 9-0.
The Big Red returns to action Sunday, November 18 at 12 pm, when it takes on Princeton at the Belkin International Squash Courts.
