ITHACA, N.Y. - Junior midfielder Kristi Woodworth scored a game-tying goal for Colgate nearly eight minutes into the second half and defense prevailed for the remainder of the contest as Cornell and Colgate tied 1-1 in women's soccer at Berman Field.
Woodworth put the ball over Cornell goalkeeper Katie Thomas on a rebound created from a corner kick and was assisted by senior Angela Puliafico and junior Laura Erickson.
Cornell opened up the scoring at the 22:06 mark when junior Sarah Olsen took a pass from sophomore Alicia Doolittle at the top of the box and drove it to the bottom left of the net past Raider goalkeeper Kate Jassin. Jassin had 10 saves for Colgate and Thomas chipped in with seven for the Big Red.
Cornell outshot Colgate 21-14, while the Raiders had eight corner kicks to the Big Red's five.
The tie was the first for Cornell in the 2001 season and brought its record to 2-1-1. Colgate is now 2-2-2 on the year.
The Big Red returns to action this Saturday when it hosts Stony Brook at Berman Field. The game time is 1 p.m..
