Women's Soccer Tops Wagner 4-0

ITHACA, N.Y. - Senior co-captain Sarah Olsen scored two goals to lead the Cornell women's soccer team to a 4-0 win over the Wagner Seahawks Wednesday night at Berman Field. Emily Knight added her third goal of the season and Leigh Ann Schwartz tallied her first collegiate goal as the Big Red extended its non-conference unbeaten streak to seven games.

Olsen started the Big Red attack with a chip shot from 15 yards out at the 16:26 mark. Junior Leigh Ann Schwartz gave Cornell a 2-0 lead with a quick strike off a feed from Kara Ishikawa in the 31st minute. Emily Knight scored a goal at the 54:46 mark off a Jo Galardy assist giving Knight nine points this season. Sarah Olsen rounded out the Big Red scoring with her second goal of the game at 61:35. The senior co-captain leads the Big Red with four goals in 2002.

Freshman Shannon Fraser earned a pair of assists, one on each goal Olsen scored, giving her a team-high ten points. Katie Thomas and Kristin Lotito each worked a half in the game to shut out the Seahawks.

The Big Red out shot Wagner 39-1 in the game. Dana Honcharuk made 10 saves at net for the Seahawks. Cornell improved to 7-4-1 this season including a 6-0-1 mark in non-conference action. The loss drops Wagner to 3-12-2 on the year.

The Big Red will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 26, when it goes on the road to battle Brown at 5:00 p.m.
