Women's Soccer Battles To Scoreless Tie With Marist

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Despite outshooting the Red Foxes by a 33-7 margin, the Big Red women's soccer team simply could not find the back of the net and tied Marist 0-0 in double overtime on Sunday afternoon. Senior Kristin Lotito made five saves to earn a shutout in her first collegiate start.

Freshman Ali Gombar led the Big Red with eight shots, followed by junior Emily Knight with six. Marist goalkeeper Melanie Nai had an outstanding day in net, making 17 saves. Cornell had a season-high 16 corner kicks in the contest.

With the tie, Cornell's season record stands at 5-2-1, while Marist is now 1-8-1 on the year.

The Big Red will return to action Wednesday evening when it faces Bucknell for a 7 p.m. contest at Berman Field.
