PHILADELPHIA, PA - The Cornell women's squash team fell to a tough Penn squad in Philadelphia on Saturday, losing their season opener 9-0, but the Big Red rebounded in their next match, sweeping Haverford by the same score, 9-0. Cornell then traveled to Princeton on Sunday, losing to the Tigers 9-0 and starting off the season with a 1-2 record.

Cornell failed to win any games against Penn, losing each match by a score of 3-0, but then managed to turn it around against Haverford, winning all their matches in 3 games. Princeton's strong team proved to be too tough for Cornell and the Big Red struggled against the Tigers' powerful ladder, dropping every match 3-0.

In their defeat of Haverford, freshman Cory Warfield (Glencoe, Md) led the Big Red at the #1 postition, beating Abby Stern, 3-0. Sophomores Brooke Stetson (New York, N.Y.) and Joanna Wolfson (White Plains, N.Y.) also had strong showings, winning their matches at the #2 and #3 spots respectively, 3-0.

The Big Red returns to action Saturday, December 7th , when Harvard travels to Cornell.
